Oh my goodness time is certainly drawing close. As I am sure most of you will be reading this after I have left because well as of this date I have yet to tell anyone about my blog. Still no luck with the car but hopefully someone will bite soon. I don’t think I will ever sell a car again, too much work. I didn’t like retail in a store and I like “personal” retail even less. I’m just going to lease a car and give it back for a better one in a few years or just drive it into the ground and buy a new one.
On the bright side I leave for China in only a few more days. September 3rd is the day. I just simply can’t believe that it is actually happening. I will be going to a small “city” or town called Lingxi near the town of Wenzhou. I’ve done some research of the area and it seems pretty modern in the sense that it is “Americanized” – I can get a Starbucks there – but it is also pretty remote. Only 20 minutes in any direction and I wind up at a mountain, a beach or a forest. The person I have been talking to in the town says that it is an amazing place to be as a white person. In Shanghai or Beijing I would be just another white guy amongst millions but apparently in this area there are only a few white people and the locals love them. I am going there to teach them but I am sure that I am going to learn so much more from them. I am so excited.
On to the recap portion, of my journey.
This week I went to downtown Montreal to try and get my tourist Visa to China, which is a very complicated procedure. I heard different things from different people so my mom and I decided that the best place to go was to the Chinese Embassey which I had no idea where it was but it was pretty much square in the middle of downtown on University and Sherbrookeish. Anyway I went in and they said that the only place you can get a Visa from China in Canada are in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Well off to Ottawa I was the next day.
I filled out all of the paperwork online the night before and then went off to Ottawa. It was convenient because Megan needed to get to Montreal that day because she was doing a cancer walk the next day so instead of taking the bus I gave her a lift. I went to the Chinese Visa office and waited my turn and was served by a very nice (and very cute) girl from Ottawa and she said I could pick up my Visa on the 29th (4 days later not including weekends…) so that is tomorrow. I’ve received no contact from them so I am assuming there was no problems. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
This weekend we also had Zarko and Olga’s combined birthday parties. Since we have CoBroRo we could always call this ZarGa…or OlgArko….hmm just doesn’t seem to roll of the tongue. We shall see if it sticks lol. This years soccer game was won (again) by the old team 10-6. Also unlike last year no-one got kicked in the face with a soccer ball at full force (sorry Laura) but there were (as usual) tons of unfair play and tripping and pushing. It was awesome. Zarko really needs to get some actual soccer net’s so that we will no longer have contested goals by them cheating kids *shakes fist*
Yesterday (Monday the 27th) I went up north for the last time before I leave. To be fair I’ll be here for almost a week with Jeremy and Curtis (since Epic Talisman is scheduled for Friday) but also with us now is Roxanne and Lorna.
Today I went to the dentist to get my final checkup and to get my crown put on FINALLY ending the summer at the dentist to fix my tooth I chipped on June 1st (or 2nd or something). Seems like FOREVER ago…what an amazing summer I have had.
